UPDATE FROM DIVERGENT

While we were prepared to launch into the 2022 season with a great show concept, a dedicated staff, and a full head of steam, we are devastated to say that Divergent will take another year off from fielding an ensemble. So many ensembles are still dealing with the effects of the pandemic, some more than others. In our case, unfortunately, those effects recently resulted in complications at our rehearsal facility.

In the past month, we’ve made tons of phone calls, had several face-to-face meetings, and searched high and low for a new home for this season. Not for lack of effort, our attempts have not been successful. A few of those conversations remain open and encouraging, but it would not be responsible for us to wait any longer to make a decision on this season. We would never want to lead students into a position to put our auditions over those of other groups if there is a chance we will not have a season.

To that end, there are other outstanding groups in the area holding auditions. We highly recommend that anyone planning to audition for Divergent check out Redline Percussion, Motor City Percussion, or Lake Effect Percussion. Beyond that, stay involved with the marching arts, and join us in wishing the Michigan Alliance for Performing Arts a fantastic inaugural year of competition!

We have every intention of returning for the 2023 season. The groundwork for that begins today. We will begin the retooling process immediately to ensure we come back stronger, better, and fully prepared to offer the best experience possible for our future members. Stay tuned to our social channels for updates and other fun stuff.

We can’t wait to Dive into 2023!
